The Community Foundation for Staffordshire is one of many  organisations and businesses backing the Stoke on Trent bid for City of Culture 2021.

The Community Foundation loves every district and borough in Staffordshire, and we love the City of Stoke-on-Trent and believe that becoming City of Culture will bring huge benefits to our area; for the people who live and work here, the businesses that are based here and for future generations.

Whether it’s eating an oatcake, going to a football match, listening to music at the highly acclaimed Sugarmill, watching some theatre at The Regent, visiting the beautifully restored spitfire at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery or throwing a pot at Gladstone, culture in one sense or another drips from every pore in the city.

Across six towns and one city, built on a history of industrial greatness, we’re now seeing a resurgence of all the things that made this place great. We want to capitalise on the opportunities that becoming City of Culture would bring to Stoke-on-Trent to propel our city forward. If we’re successful, the benefits to the city would be enormous; not just through a truly unique arts and culture offer but for the future of the city overall. More quality jobs, millions of visitors from all over the world, better transport connections, ways to embrace our entrepreneurial spirit and a city that thrives and grows for its people.

Becoming UK City of Culture is a once in a generation opportunity for us. We believe the time is right and the time is now for the city. That’s why we’re backing the #sot2021 bid and pledging our support. Join us to help make Stoke-on-Trent UK City of Culture 2021 a reality.

This is a bid for the whole city and will only be successful if it’s backed by everyone in Stoke-on-Trent and our neighbouring areas.
