The Building a Stronger Britain Together (BSBT) programme supports civil society and community organisations in Staffordshire who work to create more resilient communities, stand up to extremism in all its forms and offer vulnerable individuals a positive alternative, regardless of race, faith, sexuality, age and gender. The programme allows organisations that share these aims to bid for in-kind support and grant funding for specific programmes that deliver goals set out in the Counter Extremism Strategy.

  • Registered Charities
  • Charitable Incorporated Organisations
  • Community Interest Companies
  • Companies limited by guarantee

Criteria Your Organisation Must Meet

  • You must be able to evidence that you have been established for more than 12 months
  • You must have a bank account in the name of your organisation
  • You must have at least 3 unrelated committee members, or members of your governing body
  • You must be based in or working in Staffordshire (organisations who are working in other areas are eligible to apply through your local community foundation)
  • Consortia and partnership bids are eligible
  • If successful you will be expected to acknowledge support from the government

What You Can Apply For

  • Grants of up to £50,000 are available
  • In kind support can also be offered

 

Your application must meet at least one of the three following outcomes;

  1. Fewer people holding attitudes, beliefs and feelings that oppose shared values
  2. An increased sense of belonging and civic participation at the local level
  3. More resilient communities

 

In addition we are particularly keen to see applications that demonstrate the following;

  • Demonstrating effective practice, with evidence that the methodology being used will be successful
  • The ability to work in partnership
  • Where the proposal is supported by co-funding
  • Long term sustainability
  • Grants to leverage match funding

What We Cannot Fund

  • Individuals
  • Management or overhead salary costs
  • Trips abroad
  • Capital costs, such as building work or vehicles
