Coventry Building Society Community Fund

This fund was established in 2012 by The Coventry Building Society using funds from the Society’s own Charitable Foundation.

Who does it support?

Community groups that are active or based within the region covered by Coventry Building Society’s branch network are eligible to apply for grants of up to £1000.  In Staffordshire this is limited to the borough of Tamworth.   Priority is given to groups or activities aimed at improving the quality of life and opportunities in communities affected by disadvantage, deprivation and social exclusion. You  do not have to have charitable status – for example, constituted groups may apply but you must have accounts (or forecasts in the case of new groups) and a management committee.

What does it not support?

Large charities which enjoy national coverage, charities with no base in the CBS branch area, projects requiring an ongoing commitment, large capital projects, major fundraising, sponsorship of individuals, requests from individuals, educational institutions unless for the relief of disadvantage, medical research and equipment, animal welfare, promotion of religion or politics, political causes or overseas travel.  If a grant is received you must wait for a period of 3 years before you reapply to this fund.

What size group is supported?

Applicant groups must have a donated income of less than £250,000 in the last year and assets of less than £500,000.

What are grants made for?

Grants will be made for activities which improve the quality of life for people living in Tamworth.

What size grants are awarded?

The maximum that can be awarded is £1,000.
