Bishop Stamer Fund for Individuals

“The object of the fund shall be the relief of sickness by supporting the provision of nursing, convalescent and rest facilities and the promotion of healthy living with a preference for helping the aged and/or infirm of the North Staffordshire area.”

About the Bishop Stamer Fund

The Bishop Stamer Fund has two seperate funding strands.  One is focussed on individuals and the other on community groups, voluntary groups and in some cases statutory agencies.  Applications may be submitted at any time, but the panel meets only twice a year, in January and July.  Grants from this scheme are available to people or organisations in North Staffordshire, (including Stoke on Trent, the borough of Newcastle under Lyme and the Staffordshire Moorlands district).  The panel of donor advisors may, at their discretion, consider applications from outside of this area.

Grants for Individuals

Small grants are made on an individual basis to older people, (50+), (with a preference towards elderly and infirm people), who are in need of support to help them or their carers to provide specific facilities.  These facilities should not normally be available through another source, or there should be a waiting list where a delay would cause hardship.  These grants are to be considered as a one off grant and should be for items of equipment and not to pay for general nursing provision or care.  Grants may also be made to organisations who will make small value purchases, to help individuals.  The maximum award made for this part of the scheme is £1000.  Some examples of items that may be funded could include a wheelchair, a new bed, grab rails or easy to use taps.
