John Flock Bentilee Empowerment Fund
John Flock served as an EPIC Board member for 10 years, the majority of which as Chair. John was passionate about EPIC and our mission of “Empowering People through access to Jobs, Homes and Training”. He relentlessly saw through his commitment to ensure that Bentilee residents had access to good quality housing, excellent services and opportunities to achieve their aspirations. John’s life was tragically cut short in 2010 – The John Flock Bentilee Empowerment Fund has been created in John’s memory to continue the work that he started during his time with EPIC.
The fund has been set up specifically for residents in Bentilee and will provide practical support to empower people in the small things in life that can really make a difference. Examples include:
- Learning to drive
- Accredited short training courses (such as the Construction Skills Certification Scheme – CSCS Card)
- Text books or materials for college or university
Empowerment is all about helping people help themselves – with this in mind we ask that residents who benefit from the fund pay a small amount towards the funded activity, so that it becomes a shared commitment.
